Background:

Alessia was born two years before Merlin to Janilla and Hugo Creek.

She had magic.

Growing up, she was asked to hide her magic from everyone, but when she realised that Merlin had magic too. She wasn’t able to hide it from him. She dreamt of them growing up together and getting married someday.

The trouble with Alessia was that she wasn’t as in control of her magic as Merlin was, and as time passed, Merlin’s power only became stronger, and eventually surpassing Alessia’s abilities.

She became rapidly jealous. Her anger tantrums hurt many around her and Merlin told her to stop. One day, in an effort to beat Merlin in a game they played as childhood friends, got out of hand and Alessia lost her right arm.

Merlin wasn’t explain to her parents to why she’d become disabled and they forbade Alessia and Merlin to see each other. Her condition never improved, and Merlin couldn’t use his magic to help her.

One night when her parents weren’t home, Alessia conjured up the last of her magic and brewed herself a poisonous potion and consumed it—eventually ending her life.

Merlin never forgave himself for her death.

A week later, Hunith sent him to Camelot in care of Gaius, where he met Arthur.
